Closing A Deadly Gateway is a project that aims to secure the closure of Asia’s most prolific markets for Tigers and other critically endangered species. Produced in conjunction with TRAFFIC/WWF, it was designed to be presented at the Global Tiger Summit in St Petersburg Russia in November 2010. However despite the considerable significance this initiave has for tiger conservation, the film was never screened at the summit.

With unique access to the leaders of the two main non-government controlled regions in northern Burma on the Chinese border, the narrative takes a never before seen angle on the tiger crisis. This unrivaled access and direct engagement with these groups aims to have wildlife laws implemented and enforced in this critical wildlife trade area for the first time.

Bear trade in Asia is still prevelant. Thousands of bears are still kept in horrific conditions to supply bile for traditional medicine. This barbaric practice must be stopped as soon as possible.

This baby tiger was drugged, stuffed in a suitcase then seized by customs at Bangkok's Suvannaphum airport last year. The Thai woman who was attempting to smuggle the tiger to Saudi Arabia was arrested and held but later released on bail. The case is still pending but like most wildlife crime cases in Thailand the punishment will be insignificant and the criminal released to try again and probably get away with it the second time. This is him later that day after being rescued. Still a bit wobbly but good to go.
